Day 81 Thursday 1st August
We spent a wonderful day visiting the beautiful area in and around Margaret River. Our first stop was in the town of Cowaramup. It had statues of cows everywhere and quaint little shops. Lyn and I loved a shop full of natural soaps, body lotions etc. We bought a few things here. We then continued on towards Margaret River, heading in the main street for a walk and a coffee. We stopped for some olive oil tastings and chocolate tastings and from here we visited the first of the wineries, Stella Bella. The wine-maker here was Luke Jolliffe who both Rob and I taught many years ago. Unfortunately, he was overseas on a holiday but we enjoyed some wine tasting and chatting to the lovely lady selling the wines. We visited another little town called Witchcliffe and visited a craft shop that was full of candles and beautiful wood works made from barrel timbers. Lyn then took us to a stunning little beach called Redbanks where once again we marveled at the power of the ocean smashing into the rocks. We headed back to Margaret River and had a delicious lunch at the pub. From here we visited another winery called Mad Fish. We were feeling a bit sorry for Rob as he doesn't tend to do the wine tasting so we found a brewery where he could try a few beers. We finished off with a visit to a cheese factory. Needless to say that we don't need much dinner tonight after that big day.
