Day 83 Saturday 3rd September
We left Augusta quite early heading for the Kari forest area near the town of Pemberton. Our first stop was Beedelup falls where we could view the falls from a suspension bridge which Rob and Steve had fun rocking while Lyn and I tried to cross it. From here we continued on through the magestic kari forest to the Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree. It was 65mt high and you could climb it using the steel rung ladder if you were brave (or silly enough). Steve was the only one of us who did this. From here we drove to the Gloucester National Park, stopping at another lovely waterfall called The Cascades and doing a short walk. We continued on to the town of Pemberton for lunch at the bakery before making our way to another very large kari tree which you could climb called the Gloucester tree. This tree had once been used as a fire lookout and had been maintained for tourists to climb, again up a steel rung ladder. Jasmine and Rob did climb this tree back in 2000 but this time we all decided to take a short walk through the magnificent kari forest and take some photos instead. We then drove on to our next overnight stop at the little coastal town of Walpole. We were entertained by kangaroos and a cheeky kookaburra while having drinks and nibbles before dinner.
