Day 1 Monday 13th June 2016 After a very cold night in Adelaide, we made a good start being ready to leave at 8am. We waited for Heather and Paul to join us at Cavan. We stopped had a coffee and they soon joined us. Lyn and Steve had left the previous afternoon and were going to wait for us at Pt Augusta. The trip was uneventful and it was lovely to see the land so green as usually when we travel north of Pt Wakefield it's always dry. Obviously we are not normally travelling during Winter. I noticed that a there were many more wind farms perched on top of the hills in the lower north, farming regions. I thought that they look rather magestic and don't see what the problem is with them. I'd rather look at them than the chimneys puffing out their black smoke at the coal-fired power station. We called into a caravan park near Pt Pirrie as Paul and Heather had friends there who manage the park. Paul dropped off some of his famous &15 minute& scotch as Rob likes to call it. From there we made good time meeting Lyn and Steve for a lunch stop at a lookout at the Arid Lands Botanical gardens, near Pt Augusta. From here we drove on to our first over-night stop at a free camp at Lake Hart. (Just under a 100kms north of Pimba). It was a beautiful, huge, free camp and although there was probably at least another 20 groups of caravanners and campers there, there was plenty of room for all. Lake Hart (a salt lake) was full of water and we had a stunning sunset to watch as we set up a campfire. A great night was had around the campfire and after a great night's sleep we woke to a beautiful sunrise.
