Day 3 Wednesday 15th

Day 3 Wednesday 15th June Today we didn't have too far to travel so after a leisurely breakfast of bacon and eggs on the fire we headed for the small town of Marla. It's just a service station, shop, tavern, motel, police station and a few others houses. We called in for morning tea along with about 30 other groups of people in campers and caravans.....and yes just like Canada and Alaska there was a line up for the ladies loo. We had reception here so Rob tried to call a couple of people but they were all busy at work, poor things. From here we drove to a beautiful spot for lunch, Marryat Creek rest area. From here we checked our next spot to stay. We are using the WikiCamps app and it is not letting us down. I just read ahead of possible stops for the night and read the comments from other people and pick a good free camping spot. We decided we would spend the night at the SA/NT border. People had said that on the opposite side of the road to the bituminised  carpark, toilets and information boards, there were lovely quiet spots off the road for camping and vans. They were right. We found a well hidden track into the bush and set up for the night.  While the other carpark was full and close to the highway we had a beautiful secluded spot for the night. Shortly after dark we were joined by 2 other groups but they set up a long way from us and didn’t bother us at all. We had another great camp fire even though it wasn't cold and baked potatoes in the hot coals to have with dinner. Again there is plenty of evidnce of recent rain and things are quite green and  lush.
