Day 5 Friday 17th June

Day 5 Friday 17th June  Kings Canyon Conquered We were all ready to leave at 8.30am, leaving the vans and Paul's vehicle behind at the campsite. We made it to the Canyon safely and 5 of us (Lyn, Steve, Paul, Rob and myself) decided to do the 3 hour rim walk.  Heather who is recovering from a recent knee replacement sensibly decided  to do the more sedate walk along the creek bed at the base of the canyon. We all managed to complete the walks and enjoy the magnificent scenery of this place. Again  the extra water from the recent rains in the creeks and water holes added to the beauty. For some of us the rocky steps up to the top of the rim were challenging, for others, the steep decline at the end proved to be difficult  but good news was that we all made it. We had lunch that we'd brought with us, in the shelter at the car park and then headed back to our camp at salt creek. All was good the 3 vans were still there and Heather and Paul,s vehicle. We had an enjoyable afternoon and evening around the campfire with Heather making the girls dangerous champagne cocktails and the boys enjoying a few beers while watching the footy in the evening, thanks to Steve’s satellite and TV. There were only about another 6 groups staying overnight at this spot tonight.
