Day 4 Thursday 16th June We had a beautiful peaceful night only interrupted by the sound of several heavy showers. Wow. Here we are on the border between SA and NT in the middle of the desert and it's raining. Very refreshing but our vans do have quite a bit of red mud in them now. Oh well.....Who cares. We left our camp and headed for Erldunda. Another busy stop with people refueling, stopping to stock up and moving on. We refueled and then left the Stuart Highway onto the Lasseters Highway heading for our next stopover. We drove for a few kms before stopping for morning tea. From here we then drove for about 90kms and then turned onto the Luritja Highway. We headed for our next beautiful camp at Salt Creek. We made it here for a late lunch, followed by reading, firewood gathering and even a game of golf in the red dunes. This entertained all the campers in the area. A beautiful dinner thanks to Lyn and Steve of spaghetti bolognase and damper cooked in the hot coals followed by a pineapple pudding and icecream was enjoyed by all of us. A lovely couple from New Zealand came and joined us after dinner for a great chat. By bedtime there were about a dozen groups in the camping area. We are leaving the vans here tomorrow and driving into Kings Canyon (111kms). We'll just take 2 vehicles in and hopefully all will still be there when we return.
